In this session of the China Democracy Forum, Dr. Jun Tao Wang delivered an in-depth lecture on China’s current economic predicament and the Chinese Communist Party’s strategic responses under Xi Jinping’s leadership. He emphasized that the regime is prioritizing political control over economic reform, using policies such as tightened party dominance over the economy, reliance on internal circulation, and suppression of public dissent. Dr. Wang analyzed the structural risks within China’s authoritarian system and firmly stated that there is no way out under authoritarian rule.
