This session of the Democracy Forum focused on a historical reflection of the 1989 Chinese democratic movement and the Tiananmen Square crackdown. The speaker, Mr. Gu Kai, was a university student in Shanghai during that time and participated in the movement that profoundly influenced China’s fate. He recounted the demands, organizational efforts, and mental state of student activists, as well as the psychological trauma and historical wounds following the suppression.
