More and more Muslims in Xinjiang are turning to the international community for help. Hadlibek Nuerlan, a Kazakh man who founded an internet technology company in Urumqi in Xinjiang's Altay region, was secretly sentenced to 10 years in prison by the authorities after being sent to a political re-education camp in April last year. Hadlibek, a devout Muslim, was sent to a re-education camp for praying and was sentenced for refusing to brainwash, according to a classmate of Hadlibek who told this station on Wednesday (January 23). In addition, Milan Guli Tuohejiang, a TV reporter from Xinjiang's Tuoli County TV Station, was placed under house arrest in Xinjiang.
Hadlibek Nuerlan, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Xinjiang court last year, is from Chagan Gol Township, Qinghe County, Altay Prefecture. Aman, a classmate of Hadlibek, told Radio Free Asia that Hadlibek refused to be transformed into a non-Muslim by the Chinese government because of his religious activities, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. But Hadley Buick's relatives did not know what to do. She said that Hadley Buick was her classmate: "Graduated from Northeastern University in 2015, in 2017, he founded Kubaba Network Technology Co., Ltd. in Urumqi. He was detained by Qinghe authorities and sent to a so-called re-education camp. But after a while, he heard that he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for religious reasons.”
Arrests in complete disregard of legal process and fundamental human rights
Aman said that before and after Hadlibek was sentenced, his family did not receive any legal documents, and the family was not allowed to entrust a lawyer. After being sentenced, family members are not allowed to visit the prison. She said: "Before this, there was no court session, no contact with his family, and he was not allowed to meet with his family. So now his family has lost contact with him. I only know that he is now in Karamay City Prison, Xinjiang, and has been 9 months."
Friends of Hadley Buick overseas asked the World Human Rights Organization and the media for assistance, and called on the international community to pay attention to this matter. Our reporter called Karamay City Prison, but no one answered.

Another reporter and writer from Xinjiang’s Tuoli County TV station, Milan Guli Tuohejiang, was recalled to her hometown from Kazakhstan by the Tuoli County government in January last year. Her passport was confiscated by the police and she was unable to leave the country to reunite with her two children. Milan Guli's daughter, Areai, who has taken Kazakh nationality, told RFA on Wednesday that her mother works in journalism: "A well-known journalist and poet for the Tori County TV station in Tacheng. She was in 2018. On January 8th, she was invited to Tuoli County, Tacheng, Xinjiang, China. The police went to her home. She has not returned to her home (Almaty) until now. There (Xinjiang), she was not allowed to use her mobile phone and did not contact us. . During the year, I was in contact with my mother for less than half an hour. Every 5 minutes, she said 'I'm fine', 'I'm fine', 'Don't say anything'."
Areai said that her mother, Milan Guli, holds a Chinese passport and has obtained a green card from Kazakhstan, and she often travels between Almaty and Tacheng, Xinjiang. According to the information provided by Ajay, Milan Guli likes writing and poetry. In 2004, he published a collection of poems "Pigeons" in the China Nationalities Publishing House, the content of which is the theme of Kazakh family life. Areai said her mother's work did not touch on Chinese politics and religion.
After being approached by Radio Free Asia on Tuesday, Milan Guli miraculously opened WeChat on Wednesday. Are Ai said: "My mother has already opened WeChat, opened it today, contacted me today, and didn't say anything. She sent me an invitation letter, an invitation letter for me to go home, and said don't worry, that's it I don't know the police asked her to say that, and I don't know what the situation is."
Our reporter called the Torrey County Public Security Bureau and the county government on Wednesday, but the call went unanswered.
The founder of the Atajurt Youth Volunteer Organization, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan, said to this station that the organization is trying to rescue Miangul: "She is under house arrest, and her two children are daughters. , and they are both citizens of Kazakhstan, and this person (Milan Guli) came to Kazakhstan with a green card. But he is now under house arrest.”
The Atajurt Youth Volunteer Organization called on the UN Human Rights Commission and governments of various countries to pay attention to the situation of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, and urged the Chinese government to let Milan Guli go abroad as soon as possible to reunite with her two daughters.
