今天刘晓波在接受德国和美国的两名肝癌专家的会诊时，重申希望能出国治疗，家属亦表示同意。但是中国医科大学附属第一医院（“一院”）随后在网站发布公告，只一句“中国专家提出患者转运過程不安全”就把德美专家转述的出国诉求给擋了回去。一院在过去數天几成了官方传声筒，在家属不自由的狀態下多次“代表”家属发言，並借专业身份為极权涂脂抹粉，砌词合理化对晓波的禁锢，無视晓波的心愿。对于一院这种完全丧失了身为医务工作者应有的人道主义和独立判断的行为，自由刘晓波工作组在此予以强烈谴责。
刘晓波之所以把出国治疗作为最后的心愿，是因为在这个国家，他的声音，他的名字早已成为敏感词，他的肉体亦被这个政权所摧残，唯独他自由的灵魂渴望着在最后的时刻不再被囚禁，而只要他在中国这个地球上最大的极权主义人间地狱一天，他的灵魂都不会安宁。只有离开这个国度，他才能再一次自由地表达，说出他想对这个他热爱的世界所说的最后话语。
刘晓波选择出国，还因为他深爱着他的妻子刘霞，在刘霞为他经受了多年的被软禁隔离社会抑郁成病后，刘晓波希望在他离开这个世界后，他所炽热爱着的妻子不再在极权主义下生活，不再经受无休无止的监视、控制、骚扰、恫吓、威胁，所以他必须让刘霞获得自由。
自由刘晓波工作组呼吁各国政府、人权机构、媒体共同行动，基于人类共同的人道主义精神，促使刘晓波、刘霞获得自由。

Announcement 6 from "Freedom for Liu Xiaobo Action Group":
Let Liu Xiaobo Free!
While being treated by two experts from Germany and the United States today, Liu Xiaobo reiterated his wish to receive treatment abroad; family members also agreed. However, the First Hospital of Chinese Medical University ("the Hospital") soon published a notice on its website, and blocked Liu's request to leave the country, related by the German and American expert by one sentence, "The Chinese expert pointed out that the transportation process for the patient is unsafe". The Hospital has basically become the mouthpiece of the authorities in the past few days, speaking "on behalf of" the family when family members are not free, and clothing the authorities' refusal to let Liu Xiaobo leave the country with a veneer of "professional opinions", helping the government to rationalise the effective imprisonment of Liu Xiaobo, completely ignoring Liu's own wish. The Freedom for Liu Xiaobo Action Group strongly condemns the Hospital for its action that violates the humanitarianism that medical professionals should uphold, and signals an abandonment of its own independent professional judgment.
There is a reason why Liu Xiaobo choose leaving the country for treatment as his last wish. In this country, his voice, his name has become taboo; his body has also been ravaged by this regime; only his free soul longs to break free from imprisonment in its last day. But as long as he remains in China, the world's largest totalitarian hell on earth, his soul could never be at peace. Only by leaving this country, can he freely express himself once again, can he tells this world he loves the last words he wishes to say.
But Liu Xiaobo's choice is also about his beloved wife, Liu Xia. Liu Xia has been suffering from depression caused by long years of house arrest and isolation, simply for being his wife. Liu Xiaobo hopes that after he leaves this world, his wife whom he so passionately loves would no longer need to live under totalitarianism, would no longer need to endure endless surveillance, control, harassment, intimidation and threats. As such he must win freedom for Liu Xia.
Freedom for Liu Xiaobo Action Group urges all governments, human rights organisations and media to work together, base on our common humanity, to bring about freedom for Liu Xiaobo and Liu Xia.
“Freedom for Liu Xiaobo Action Group” is a group of volunteers concerned about the illness of Liu Xiaobo. We are currently responsible for the work relating to “Urgent Appeal: Complete Freedom for Liu Xiaobo”, liaising with world media about the publication of news relating to Liu Xiaobo, and other campaign actions. “Freedom for Liu Xiaobo Action Group” will not give up until the day that Liu Xiaobo is completely free.
