Multiple Citizens VS. Government events occurred in recent years

It is now the first day of 2013; a new year has begun. Looking back at 2012, numerous of great or grave events had occurred in the past year. Open-scene of the eighteenth NPC meeting (National People's Congress); convictions of Lijun Wang and Xilai Bo; the Nobel Prize winner MO YAN... Yet, the events that struck me the most were the series of group incidents (massive events that put civilians and government on contrary sides) within the country. Among hundreds of the group incidents, few standout, notably the civilian protest on the copper-molybdenum project in Shi Fang, Sichuan province; the anti-drainage protest in Qidong, Jiangsu; the PX project in Ningbo; and the group incidents occurred in minor ethnicity areas. The occurrence of these events highlighted the opposition between civilians and officials along with the battles between citizens and police. The interior rivalry was merely one of the severe consequences of Communist despotism.

The incidents in Shifang, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces had tremendously impacted the society and evoked multitudinous responses from the citizens which exposed the loathsomeness and futility of Chinese government's “maintenance of stability” program. The events above ultimately resulted in authorities' concession and resolved in the cancellations of the projects. However, violence occurred frequently during the processes. The series of violent actions penetrated through the smooth surface of the society and publicity while alarming its citizens on the need to alter the existing program of “stability”. If a country constructs its society upon despotic regime and unconstitutional government while pressing substantial pressure upon its citizens, this country will fall. Therefore, China’s stability must be found upon a thorough legal system. At the meantime, the government needs to hear and values the voices of its citizens and acts in civilians’ interest. If not, the conflict and discord between the citizens and the government will inevitably increase in numbers and severity.
